| | August 29, 2007 | | So I took a few days off from the "other" job, for a much needed vacation to Olympic National Park. This trip really is just a resumption of a postponed trip a few weeks ago.My goal for this trip was to focus on Olympic's coastline along the Pacific Ocean. I camped my first night at Mora Campground near La Push and at Kalaloch, further south, on my second night. I timed it well with warm, clear days and low tides at great shooting times. And although I didn't know it till afterwards, there was an amazing lunar eclipse on my final night at the park. The park as a whole has so much offer from mountains and rain forests to wind-swept ocean beaches. It has, in my opinion, more to share than most other National Parks. I've been spending a lot of time in the mountains lately so I thought it'd be a nice change of pace to come somewhere a little more at sea level. As you sit and look out at the ocean you come to grasp with how freakin' big it really is. I somehow keep forgetting the size of our world thanks to airplanes and a highly visible global economy. It's nice to get grounded every now and then and also get in touch with nature. There's something humbling about being at the edge of a sea looking out at a vastness so large you can see it curve off the edge of the world. Enough of my thoughts and on with the photographs! There are currently over 1,300 events planned nationwide and that number is growing by the day. The goal is to bring national attention to the problem of global warming via local actions. Together we will ask Congress to step it up and cut carbon emissions eighty percent by 2050. This truly will be the first big nationwide rally against global warming.I will be there because I believe we need change now!
