Barcelona Market Scene

Barcelona Market Scene

September 07, 2005 | Barcelona

This is yet another shot from the large public market in Barcelona, just off of La Rambla - the popular pedestrian thuroughfare. I like this image for a couple of reasons:

(1) It's very representational of the market itself. There are tons of fruits and vegetables that are incredibly fresh. There's tons of variety as well. For example, I have no idea what kind of fruit this man is holding in his hand, but I think I overhead sommeone say it was Korean - but I'm probably completely wrong!

(2) I also like this photo for the spectacular colors. The fruit, vegetables, seafood, and meats were at their peak. It was great - plus it just makes you hungry!

If you ever have the chance to visit Barcelona, I would highly recommend visiting this market - it's a blast and you'll definitely leave happy and full. It is the market of markets in my book. There is a huge variety of products - rabbits to mussels - everything is there. And it is in its peak condition: fresh, clean, sweet, and delicious.
