Seattle From Alki with Fog

Seattle From Alki with Fog

March 18, 2007 | Seattle

Taken early in the morning, before sunrise, along Alki Point which looks back across Elliot Bay towards downtown Seattle. This area is lined with parks, restaurants and harbor businesses.

For this shot, the fog (and rain) started to move in on the city so I tried to capture the area around Elliot Bay and the tungsten-toned lights reflecting off of the sky.

Early in the morning it is pretty desolate and all you can hear are seagulls, sometimes seals, and the waves from ferry boats along the rocks. If you continue farther along on Alki Point, you round the tip towards Puget Sound and the rocky shoreline becomes sandy beaches - a huge summertime hang out.

I awoke early to catch the sunrise and the city in the foreground, but it was rather foggy and eventually started to rain - I guess that's Seattle.
