Olympic Haystacks

Olympic Haystacks

August 26, 2007 | Olympic National Park

Haystacks line the coast of the Pacific Northwest. These statues of time were once part of the mainland, but over the years the waves and ocean have washed away their connection. These haystacks have just begun their journey to the sea.

In this photograph I tried to capture the waves in their retreat back to the sea. I love the imperfections of the pebbles in contrast to the sand.
