The Mountain and its Wind Swept HatJanuary 13, 2008 | Mount Rainier National Park The mountain commonly has its hat or halo trailing behind or above it. It's actually a lenticular cloud - a crazy effect that is caused by moist air at low elevations be forced upward over the mountain. This shot was taken as we were driving back from Paradise. Quite a view even when you're nearly below the snow line. | | | | MetadataCamera Nikon D200 Lens 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Shutter and f/stop 1/80 sec. @ f/13.0
