Catacombs of Paris

Catacombs of Paris

March 22, 2011 | Paris

Number one on my to-do list in Paris was the Catacombs, the storage place of the old residents of Paris. When the local cemetery began to fill and with ample room in the mines underneath the city, the best solution is of course to dig up the dead and move their bodies so that more dead can be buried in their place.

The feel of the Catacombs is a little eerie. It is cold, dark and humid. The first sight of bones and such are a little unnerving, but after a while you get used to the ridiculous amount of bones.
