Mount Rainier from the White River

Mount Rainier from the White River

July 03, 2009 | Mount Rainier National Park

So on our trip to the Mountain in July we camped out at the White River Campground which has an awesome view of the Mountain. The White River is one of the main rivers leaving the mountain. In November 2006, the mountain received a ridiculous amount of rain in a 36-hour period causing the White River to swell and take out quite a bit of the hillside with it. A good chunk of the campground was swept up in addition to a few bridges and roads. Right now it's just a trickle of its former self.
